Benefits of Nivstin DS
Broad Spectrum Against Specific Pathogens: While primarily targeted at resistant bacteria, colistin is effective against a range of Gram-negative pathogens that are difficult to treat with standard antibiotics.
Safe and Well-Tolerated: Nivstatin is generally well-tolerated with minimal systemic absorption, which reduces the risk of systemic side effects compared to oral antifungal medications that are absorbed into the bloodstream.
Effective Against Resistant Strains: Colistin is one of the few effective treatments for infections caused by multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacteria, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Acinetobacter baumannii.
Limited Systemic Absorption: When administered topically or as an inhalation, colistin acts locally, reducing systemic side effects compared to oral or intravenous forms.
